Question please. I have only ever had gel nail polish applied by a nail technician once. They looked amazing but wrecked my nails. I have healthy, strong nails. Why do technicians need to buff the top of my beautiful nails before applying? When the gel polish was removed, my nails that were literally as tough as nails, were paper thin and broke. You could bend them backwards. It was shocking. I had to grow my nails out and took months and months to come right. Is this normal? What caused my nails to weaken, as they did?
"Staycation" over Easter but we've taken the extra annual leave days the week after - so get a decent break. We live in Lincoln (near Christchurch) and have managed to dodge the big C so far. Albeit we have been working remotely since start of February! Would like to head away for a few days but we are not sure if we will head north or south yet. Family are south but the adventure north could be great too!
Does anyone else take on beauty routines in the winter that then go out the window come summer?
I have always been open about my struggle with what I call 'dad feet'. So far over winter I have kept to the absolute best routine ever looking after my feet. I am buffing, moisturing, my toe nails are polished all year round but right now, I do not have cracked heels! And I can't show them off........
Once the warmer months kick in and I am out of hibernation, my routine comes to a halt. Happens every year lol.

I have always wanted an electric toothbrush but after looking at many, never bought one. I was sooo excited, privileged, and grateful to be able to trial this one.
It comes in a box with extra heads and plugs, and a charging case for travelling which is very cool. It sits on a magnetic charger, and once fully charged lasts for days.
It is shiny black and classy looking. It has several settings on it and reminds me of star trek for teeth! It even stops if I press too hard on it.
So far I've only been using the 'clean' and whitening' settings. I love them both. The brushing is firm and fast and does a remarkable job of cleaning. My teeth feel clean and look clean, and my mouth feels like it does after a dentist clean. Actually maybe even better.
What I've noticed is that I'm motivated to clean my teeth for longer and more often as it feels so nice when I'm done. Having the toothbrush remind me when I'm done is a great feature, as it has a timer on it and if I don't brush long enough it does a frowny face!
In my opinion my teeth look whiter already and feel so much better, and my mouth feels more healthy. I drink a lot of tea and coffee so my teeth get stained from those, and it's great to see the staining disappearing.
I don't think I can live without one of these now that I've tried it. It is making a huge difference. Even the price tag won't deter me as it feels like a worthwhile investment for such superior dental care.
I'm not sure what's normal for electric toothbrush use, but I've found leaning over the sink while cleaning is a good idea to stop the risk of spilling toothpaste on my clothes.
I very highly recommend this toothbrush. It's one of those top-shelf products that I would never regret purchasing. It truly is wonderful.
Tips: Use at least twice per day with a good toothpaste.
This toothbrush gives your teeth a thorough clean far better than the basic model.
It comes with a magnetic charging base for ease of use, 2 toothbrush heads and holder, a plug in charger for your electrical outlet that plugs into the travel case. Plus the clever handheld device.
You can download the Oral-B app and sync the toothbrush via Bluetooth with your phone. There are a number of brushing and gum health options to track your progress which gives you feedback on your brushing style and where you can improve. If good enough you receive a medal each time to encourage you.
The brush is slightly longer but on an angle to really reach between your teeth and is gentle while cleaning and no loud or strong vibration. The program lasts for two minutes and lets you know when to target a different area of your mouth which is broken up to 30 second increments and you can see where you're brushing by looking at your phone via the app.
You can change the colour of the light ring when it charges and while brushing the light is green when you apply the correct pressure, red for too much and white for too little.
You won't get any tartar buildup if used correctly and your teeth will look and feel so much cleaner.
Yes it is expensive though if you have the money I would highly recommend this as it does such a thorough clean.
Thank you very much Beauty Review for this wonderful opportunity I'm very grateful:-)
Tips: Definitely try the app as it will show you where you can improve your brushing style which is rather surprising.
I love using this nail polish remover and have bought it twice now since first discovering it! The reason - it is so simple and easy to use as it does not require any cotton wool or anything else to apply with. By dipping your nails into the solution a rubber sponge inside removes all the nail polish - and so quickly! even when you have multiple layers of polish it comes off very easily with this product! very much recommend!
I picked up a bottle of the Lux Evenly Gorgeous body wash when I tragically discovered they were no longer producing the Shea Butter & Caramel exfoliating wash. I surprisingly prefer the evenly gorgeous more as it’s gentler on my skin for exfoliating. It consists more of a light, fine grit.
The smell is heavenly. Sweet, like brown sugar, vanilla, cacao and tropical florals. It’s not specifically feminine though, our whole family uses it, men included. I can guarantee you will smell this delightful wash all through your house after anyone uses it though. It’s not super hydrating, I think that is more so due to its exfoliating ability, rather than perfumes. I have very sensitive skin and I’ve never had any irritation to the Lux body wash products. The product claims to gently exfoliate and moisturise the skin. Exfoliate gently – yes. Moisturise – I’m on the fence. I’m also not a big fan of the bottle. I wish it was available in other sizes, one with a pump nozzle would be great as we go through a bottle every 2 weeks as my 6 year old pours it all over her loofah.
All in all, I love the Lux Exfoliating Body Wash range. They’re beautifully scented, great for the whole family (not gender specific) and affordable at around $4 a bottle from most supermarkets. I have found that variety can differ quite a bit from store to store though. Make a bigger, pump styled bottle of this fantastic product Lux and I’d be even happier xx
Tips: Apply a good hydrating moisturizer after using the exfoliating wash xx
I've been walking past the Moreish products in the beauty aisle in Countdown for a while now thinking, hmm must try that sometime. This week they were on special offer so tada here I am! :)
I needed a new foaming cleanser anyway to go with the Olay Cleansing Brush I brought recently. The Natio foaming cleanser I was using ran out rather quickly after using it every day.
This product is a light clear liquid and has a lovely fresh scent, not overpowering like some other brands I’ve tried. It leaves my skin feeling super clean and ready for the toning step of my skin care routine.
I’ve used it a few times now and I must say I do like it. It foams well and does the job. Very good value for money too. I paid $16.00 for a bottle of this in a very generous 200ml size.
Unless I come by another foaming cleanser product I like I think I will be sticking with this one. It’s easily accessible and works very well. Recommended!
Tips: This works great with the Olay cleansing brush I brought recently. It foams up very well for a product that doesn't have the nasties in it :)
I will start by telling you I love this Body Lotion! I was fortunate enough to get myself some Essence of Fiji Frangipani Body Lotion at our last Beauty Review Vault.
After first finding out about Essence of Fiji products on Beauty Reviews site, I then visited Essence of Fiji's website and knew then what I wanted to try.
I like the teal sachet-style packaging, which is practical and easy to use. This also means there will be no waste. You will want to use every last drop.
When you unscrew the lid and squeeze Essence of Fiji Frangipani Body Lotion in to your hand, the fragrance will astound you! I was blown away with the undeniable, heavenly scent of Frangipani.
The Body Lotion is white and the texture is lovely and light. Such a sweet, floral scent that leaves your skin lightly perfumed and the fragrance lasts most of the day.
Essence of Fiji Frangipani Body Lotion is easy to apply and my skin feels instantly soft and mositurised as it drinks up this goodness. A little definitely goes a long, long way.
This is only 100ml of happiness in a sachet so I do not use every day.
I am so pleased to have had the opportunity of being able to try Essence of Fiji Frangipani Body Lotion.
The Body Lotion takes me on holiday every time I apply.
I had purchased this from the Vault a while back but had a few makeup removers to go through before opening this. After getting my false eyelashes done (Thank you Beauty review!) I had the horror of removing my eye makeup using makeup wipes and having my false eyelashes catch onto the makeup wipe and having 4 falsies pulled off, after that I knew makeup wipes was a no-go so i pulled out the Moisture mist makeup remover to remove my makeup instead.
Its the first creamy formula that I have used, it have a milky and creamy consistency that I found really easy to work with. A small amount on a cotton pad removes alot and since using this for 2 weeks no false eyelashes have been pulled off. It also gently removes the liquid liner and eye shadow I put on top of my eyes and the odd occasion I have been wearing mascara with my false eyelashes.
I like how it doesn't have a smell or leave an oily residue on my face after removing my makeup. This is my new favourite makeup remover especially since its been great to use with my false eyelashes, I have already brought a backup bottle for when my first bottle runs out.
These brushes are amazing quality, I've had them in my collection for over 6 months and have not had a single hair shed! This is fantastic considering they weren't overly expensive and I use a couple of them daily.
The bristles are quite soft and even though the tips of the bristles are white, there has been no discolouration, they go back to their original colour every time they are cleaned.
The brush case/stand hybrid that they come in really served no purpose for me as I find it far easier storing my brushes in my brush holder for ease of access.
-Base shadow brush: I use this daily for applying my MAC Pro-longwear on my lids for my eyeshadow base, as it does a far better job than my fingers. I just find it too rounded and dense to use as a base shadow brush.
-Deluxe crease brush: I love this brush for crease work. It's precise enough to deposit the colour, then because of the tapered, slightly fluffy bristles, it is also great for blending the colour out.
-Accent brush: This brush is very small and dense so is perfect for smudging liner on my lower lash line.
-Pixel-point eyeliner brush: I was never able to find a use for this brush. It wasn't precise enough to be an eyeliner brush as the bristles tended to splay. The bristles were also quite long and bendy, which is the opposite of what you need in a liner brush? So much confusion.
-Brow brush: This brush is dense and stiff, which is great for brushing my brows with as it helps blend my eyebrow product, but it's quite large and a spooly can do the same job. It's definitely far too big to apply any actual product with.
Tips: Just remember that the names of each brush are just a guide, play around and figure out how each brush works best for you.
I'm a big fan of Skinfood products, I love that not only do they produce high-quality, affordable skincare their products use natural goodness to feed our skin, and they're a NZ company!
I have oily, acne-prone skin and normally tend to stick with moisturisers specifically targeted to my skin type as I'm afraid of creating more shine. With summer about I decided to incorporate a moisturiser containing SPF, and Skinfood's version has really kept up my high opinion of their products.
Simple in appearance, like all of their products the spf moisturiser has a natural aroma, I can really smell the tea tree oil which makes me think this may really benefit my skin after all! The formula is everything you could want in a daytime moisturiser - lightweight, absorbs easily and non-greasy. After applying a small amount my skin feels soft, nourished but with no grease-slick that can come with heavier moisturisers. I did find it gave me a shiny t-zone, so with my skin type I wouldn't usually wear this out and about by itself without popping on some powder.
All in all this is another good product from Skinfood and I think it would suit well most skin types, although oily-skinned girls like myself just need to beware of the shine zone.
I am so impressed and overwhelmed with this product in my BRBB, I have not being a strong lover of Vaseline over the years as I found it is one of those products when you use it, your lips/body tends to dry out further! So you lather more product on, and it turns into this weird cycle of dryness! So wow was I stoked to give this awesome little guy a whirl!
First off I think the packaging is attractive lovely yellow colour, reminds me of summer! easy to hold, and work out spray top, just swivel it around until it opens. I love that it is a very fine gentle mist the evenly coats the area you are spraying, that is a massive plus.
It glides on smoothly and rubs in effortlessly, it has a very pleasant scent to it which lingers on your skin. I found that its super convenient once getting out of the shower patting yourself dry, and applying it. Left my dry skin feeling lush and smooth!
I've used it everyday since I received it, and I can happily say I am a totally converted! Way less time spent rubbing in and no sticky greasy residue, that is what I was most surprised about. I feel like I owe it to the world to shout about this product.
This product should be much more hyped up, quick easy and fun to use! Its seriously awesome.
Tips: Buy and try it girl! You won't regret it, make sure you try the 'light' version
