Nine Beauty Products That Scream Quiet Luxury

by BR Tabatha

I cannot speak for those who have wealth. I am very much sitting on the luxury side lines, watching those who have the money spend the money, and observing what and how they spend their moolah. That being said, I've noticed that there are two types of big spenders: those who splash the cash on products that are loud and proud in their expensiveness. The kind of purchases that when you see them, you know the person has money (or has saved up said money) and isn't afraid to spend it. The opposite side of the coin is those who prefer quiet luxury. The craftmanship, the quality, the importance of design is there, but minus the logos, the obviousness. It's the Olsen twins' The Row fashion brand vs the logo-heavy likes of YSL. So how does that translate in the beauty world? What are the products and brands that scream quiet luxury? Check these beauties out...

Sulwhasoo Concentrated Ginseng Brightening Serum

White and gold. Honestly, it screams rich without saying a word. It's a divine colour combination. One of my favourites, but I don't know that I could drop $318 for a serum that will likely only last me four to six weeks before I have to throw (or, hopefully recycle), the packaging out.

La Prairie Pure Gold Radiance Cream

I hope the "pure gold" in the name of this La Prairie product relates to what the packaging is made of, because if you're spending $1395 on a face cream, it should.

Armani Crema Nuda Tinted Cream

I don't know what this $310 tinted cream does that a $20 BB cream doesn't, but I'm hoping the moment you pop the top on the product a genie comes out and gives you at least one wish.

Gucci Poudre De Beauté Mat Naturel Face Powder

If I'm spending over $130 on a face powder foundation, I would find any and every excuse to touch up my face in public. Not just because of the price, but because the packaging's so luxe it deserves to be seen. Heck, I'd be so powdered up you'd think I was a walking bottle of natural-coloured talc.

Tom Ford Ultra-Shine Lip Colour

This is a product I am not adverse to buying - even if it's $94. As I mentioned above, I'm a sucker for that white and gold aesthetic, and the lipstick itself looks really lovely. Not only that, I feel the experience of walking into a fancy department store and nonchalantly dropping over ninety pingers on a lippy would be amazing. Pfft, who am I kidding. I'm still too tight to drop that kind of moolah. I'll pop the lippy on my Christmas wish list and try and convince the family to throw their money in the bucket to get it for me.

Editions de Parfums By Frédéric Mall Portrait Of A Lady Body Butter

This is the perfect body butter to be found in a simple black and white bathroom. It would blend in beautifully. It would also set you back $330. No, you're shrieking at the price of quiet luxury.

Dior J'adore Eau De Parfum Infinissime

Described as an "infinitely sensual fragrance", at $342 this product had better get me in the mood for date night, rather than the usual weekly mental preparation I undertake to get in the mood, when all I want to do is pop on my cosy jimjams and head off to the Land of Nod.

Paul Smith Botanist Candle

$496 for a candle. That amount of money would pay my power bill for two months. And while this offering from Paul Smith looks nice, for that price I'd hope that it could also hook into the grid and power my house with its light.

Costa Brazil Massage Tool

Finally... $359 for a massage tool made of stainless steel. I could get five really fancy stainless steel water bottles for that price. Also... Who the heck is going to be sitting there watching me give myself a lymphatic drainage massage, while appreciating my very good, expensive taste in beauty tools? No one I know. I drain my lymphs in private, and a gua sha stone does the trick quite nicely at a tenth of the price.

While I do appreciate quiet luxury, and know that if I were to be a bazillionaire overnight I'd go that route over showing off my wealth with loads of labels, I still think I'd be the kind of rich person who would never spend hundreds of dollars on a beauty product when I know there are plenty of just as amazing (Top Rated!) goodies to be found at a far more affordable price.

So, my beauties, are you a lover of quiet luxury? What products do you feel embody the aesthetic? Or are you all about the big and the bold when it comes to your beauty purchases? Chat below!

these look lovely, definitely out of my price range

I don't have any of these but I love the gold packaging.

The Gucci face powder looks nice, but I have never spent that much on a powder, so unless I have a Lotto win will stick to the less expensive ones.

28th September, 2023

I have a discontinued Ralph Lauren perfume which I save for special occasions or when I want to feel luxurious.

15th September, 2023

I would never spend that kind of money on a beauty product unless I was 100% sure that is actually does something absolutely amazing.

7th September, 2023

Ooooh I am attracted to the shiny products in the gold containers.. if only ...

6th September, 2023

I do love a luxury product, but more because of good reviews I may have read not because of the brand. I use affordable and more expensive products equally but there is something exciting about finally picking up a product I’ve been saving for, for a while

5th September, 2023

Some lovely looking products! I don't use anything that is really expensive but if I saw something I wanted I would buy it.

I don't think because you spend more it will be better, a lot comes down to marketing. Yes some of the ingredients would be good but you're paying for a name. Like certain brands of handbags some think it's a good brand but the bag isn't even made of leather and doesn't last. Some bottles are definitely attractive and would be more cost efficient if they had refills.

I would love to be in a position to spend that kind of money as these products look amazing but well out of my league.

Even if I were a squillionaire, I don't think I'd spend that kind of cash on my cosmetics. I firmly believe that in face care, you don't necessarily get what you pay for. There are some cheap and cracking brilliant products out there! It actually seems faintly obscene to spend so much on a product - especially the La Prairie one. Yeesh! But maybe I'm being a bit self-righteous... Easy to be when you don't have squillions to spend anyway! And I must admit, I'd be be very tempted by that J'Adore... Stunning bottle and, oh, the scent! Swoon.

Crazy prices a candle for nearly $500 wow that's ridiculous. I stick with cheaper store brands some of which I love it's all about affordability for me

28th August, 2023

I love the look of all of these but the price range is well outside my budget.

No I would never spend $500 on a candle but I would love to be able to afford the choice.

Totally true we all like a bit of luxury and if we have to wait to get it value it more.
