Sally Hansen Double Duty Strengthening Base and Top Coat

This is a really good product, I love that it is a base and top coat. I normally don’t buy a base coat so I love that this product is a 2 in 1. I really like this polish and my nail polish colour looked so shiny and smooth when I used it. It goes on so smooth and the brush shape fit my nails perfectly. I’m really happy with this it is definitely a keeper I will always have in my manicure collection

Yes, this lives up to it's name. You can use it as a base coat, and a top coat. It goes on smooth and is not goopy. It dries pretty quickly also. Compared to a diamond finish top coat, it's not as good as that in terms of depth and sparkle, but if you just want something clear to guard against chipping, then this is great. Another thing I like about this product is the shape of the bottle. As it is not a cylindrical shape, you can squeeze in between other bottles and it doesn't take up much room.

As a double purpose product, it is great to have the base and top coat in one. Easy to use. The only fault I found with it is that you do need to let it for quite some time. Especially the top coat. But other than that I would purchase this again.

As a base coat this works well, and I love the shine achieved when using as a top coat, though it is pretty slow drying. It don't believe it helped with chips though. My nails had chipped within 24 hours, which was pretty disappointing, given that I was on holiday and being quite gentle with my hands. I'll finish the bottle but won't be repurchasing given the price and that it really didn't do the job of helping to prevent chipping.

This is a pretty average nail varnish. The formula is quite thick and over time it can become a little gloppy. I find it to be OK as a base coat but it does not make a very good top coat as it takes forever to dry.

Some nail varnishes work alright with this formula and it seems to do a OK job at preventing chips for 2 days. Other nail varnishes it is near impossible for this stuff to dry therefore you'd never know how good it is at preventing chips.

The brush is nice enough and the product does apply OK. Basically I would only use this as a base coat (even then it does take a long time to dry) but wouldn't really recommend it as a top coat.

I do not believe it is a good product for the price. If the price was only 5.00 NZD like it is in America then I would say buy it and see if you like it or not. Because of the price (19.99) I would not really recommend it as it's such an average product.

As a base coat this product works for me, but not as a top coat. I am very impatient about my nails not drying on time, I just hate to wait for them to dry. I wouldn't use this as a top coat as I find it take a long time to dry, I like the ones that dry quickly.

Super easy to apply, it has a smooth formula that spreads onto the nail easily and without flaw.

Fast drying, I've found some top coats that some how cause the nail polish colour itself to become wet again and need double drying time compared to applying nail polish by itself and letting it dry or applying just a top coat by itself. And fast drying top coat is great.

Hides imperfections, i always miss a spot or accidentally get little marks so i apply a thin top coat, let it dry and apply another thin top coat and all imperfections are gone. Perfect.

The scent isnt too over bearing but i dont suggest using it in a small unventilated area. I dont like the shape of the bottle, its so plain. But if thats the only negative thing i has to say is then its a pretty great polish.

After recently rediscovering my love of polished nails (and being in a job that is rough on my hands) I vowed to keep them looking fantastic for as long as possible. This caught my eye at the supermarket and the fact it was base and top coat sealed the deal for me. Chip resistant? Let's check it out. The bottle is slightly concave on one side and nice to hold. The brush glides on, it gets great coverage time and time again. It is helping with the staining on my nails and makes them shine! If I forget to apply the top base, they definitely chip or peel quicker. Top coat is not super shiney but pretty happy with it. Doesn't take too long to dry as a base but a bit longer as a top coat. Pretty good value for money and I'm happy to stick with this until it runs out.

I have recently purchased this as I needed a quick cheap solution, and have been happy with it so far. Obviously as a double-duty product it isn't as good as separate top/base coat would be on their own but it does the job! It protects my nails from staining and the top coat dries reasonably quickly and protects better than it would without anything so I'm happy with it. I wouldn't claim it is entirely chip resistant but it is shiny and hard. The brush size is perfect and it smooths out well. I would purchase again if I needed a double-duty product in a hurry.

Personally I thought this was a so,so product.

I wasn't insanely wow-ed by it but it did the job. It did its duty in terms of being both a base and a top coat.

I don't necessarily think it was chip resistant either or that it moisturized my nails. But it did have a beautiful shine.

It dried at an okay amount of time. So overall it was a good product and it saves you money but I am still yet to find my holy grail top coat and base coat.
