Orly Smudge Fixer - Fixes Small Smudges & Imprints

I had just gotten back into painting my fingernails. I like to paint them before bed because I like them really harden over night. Unfortunately no matter how long I leave my polish to set and dry, I still end up with imprints from my fingers when I lightly touch them and crawl into bed. The next day I have these imprints. So I thought to give this a go and see if it would take away the smudges. I thought this would be a really thick product so I was pleasantly surprised to find the consistency was thin and even more that it dried quickly. One coat of this and my minor imprints and smudges were gone. Yes I did have some slightly detectable lines that you get from using a top coat but my manicure looked much better. I did have some worse smudges and dents on the polish on one of my nails and while it didn't completely fill the imprints and smudges two coats of this did improve the look of the paint job. So I will be reaching for this after I do manicures the next day to fix up the imprints and finger prints and I think I will repurchase this as well I. If I knew this would wonderfully for this I would've purchased a bottle much sooner.

Tips: Fantastic for small smudges and imprints like the ones from bedding and fingerprints. It does improve the look of the larger smudges and dents but it doesn't fix them. Paint one coat over the small imprints the next day after your polish has dried and hardened and if you are too lazy or short on time to repaint the bigger smudged nails or ones with deeper imprints, then two coats of this will improve the look till you take off the polish.

Paint again

I’m someone who is far too impatient to be painting my nails, I always find I need to be doing something else and try to do this with wet nails becomes a mess.

I end up smudging, denting or getting odd imprints I need to fix.

For the small surface smudges it fixes them right up making them look new again. But if you have a dent it isn't the best, unless you've just painted them and the entire nail is still wet.

Normally if this happens I just whip it off and put a new coat one.

I almost find the product a bit pointless!

Orly Smudge Fixer

I am a huge nail polish fan but my biggest pet peeve with nail polish is that I always manage to knick at least one nail before it is fully dry. I absolutely cannot stand chipped nails, so when I was lucky enough to get on the trial team for the Orly Colour Care Smudge Fixer I was super excited!!

The packaging of the Smudge Fixer was really appealing. It was housed in a bright red box with information on how the product worked. The bottle itself is really cute - a clear, oval shaped bottle with a light pink rubber handle to ensure a good grip when fixing your nails. I love this attention to detail :-)

How the product works is that you drop a blob of product in the thickest area of the polish and then spread it to cover the problem part of the nail. It works fabulously, I am actually surprised that no one thought of it sooner. Every nick and dent in my polish has been fixed to look as good as new with this product. I really love it!!

This is definitely a 'must have' product to add to any nail polish collection. What good is quality polish when it looks knicked and chipped? Orly Smudge Fixer corrects all smudges caused when the nails are drying. It is definitely a life saver for me, as it means I don't have to remove the polish on the nail and start again.

Give this a go!

Well...

I always do my nails right before I go to bed - out of habit maybe I'm not sure why, and of course being the impatient person I am, I get duvet cover print on my nails. If I'm extremely impatient, I get a few dents as well.

For small surface scratches or in my case duvet cover prints, one coat of this baby fixes that up real good. Prior to owning this product, I would just go over the nail with top coat in the morning and all the prints and scratches were gone. So for that purpose, I really didn't need this product.

However, in comes the dents in my wet polish. You have to use this product when your polish is still very wet. So it comes of no use to you if you happen to find your dented polished nail long after it's tried.

The instructions suggest that you put a coat of this on, then polish over your nail again. It doesn't exactly work like a miracle and banish your bump, no. It does minimise the look, but then you're left with a bump under your manicure. Not exactly cute. Ok, that's cool and all, but isn't it easier to just remove the polish from my nail and start again??

I don't know ladies, up to you to decide, but I don't recommend it.

sort of works

It was great at removing fingerprint-type smudges but not 'dents' in the polish, didn't make a difference at all. Easy to hold rubberized handle.

Tips: Use only for fingerprint smudges

Smudge Fixer

I found this product really useful. I am always smudging nail polish after applying and I was able to quickly fix it up before heading out.

Tips: Once you have used the smudge fixer and let dry, re-apply nail polish to cover any flaws.

Orly Colour Care Smudge Fixer

This product works great for small smudges or chips in the polish, but I think it's more for when one layer of original polish has been used, rather than multiple layers.

Tips: Coat generously - the instructions do state to apply a large drop but I found that I needed to be quite generous with my definition of 'large'. If you have used more that one coat of the original polish, use the original polish to coat the chip and then once dry, use this product to smooth out.

Nail Polish fix up!!

This product is fantastic! From smudges to chipped nail polish. You can touch up your nails polish quickly and easily. It drys quickly and looks much nicer than if you try to do a touch up with the original colour.

Tips: Don't use to much on the nail as it ends up removing polish from nail and creating a larger problem area. When used minimally it moves polish around the nail to cover up imperfections.

Orly Smudge Fixer

I can say that this definitely worked for minor smudges and nail nicks in my polish. I tried it on both a bright colour and a neutral and it worked really well on both. The only potential issue would be how bad the smudge is that you are attempting to cover. Even though the product worked well on the small marks, the bigger smudges were still quite noticeable. I didn't see that as a problem since for the big issues I would want to re-do the nail anyway. Will be keeping this in my arsenal!

No Miracle Worker

I love painting my nails but almost always end up smudging them due to impatience or a pressing need to get on with whatever it is I am meant to be doing. Enter Smudge Fixer.

Well doing one of my recent manicures I bumped my pinky and was left with a small smudge on the center of my nail and thought it the perfect opportunity to test this intriguing product out. I had read that it works best when used soon after the incident while the polish is still wet so quickly grabbed it and started to apply above the smudge as instructed and smooth over the smudge. The product is very thin so is easy to work with and I did see a slight improvement in the appearance of my nail, but, it still wasn't perfect. I found it remedied the smudge but left the nail looking a little uneven. However the instructions stated to add another coat of polish, so I did and was left with a smudge free nail with no evidence of the disaster.

I tried a second time with a more dramatic smudge and it still improved the situation but didn't completely erase the imperfection.

This is an interesting product and one I am happy to have got to try but unfortunately this didn't live up to my expectations and is a product I wouldn't run out and repurchase as I think it is just as easy to simply repaint the smudged nail (depending on its severity of course). With bad smudges or dents I think a repaint is needed as this just doesn't cut it, but, for minor dents and smudges this works a treat and will be in arms reach of me whenever the polish is out.

Tips: Use as soon as possible after the smudge/dent occurs while the polish is still wet and more move-able. Drag from the top of the smudge down over the thinned out area and then apply another coat over the nail once the smudge fixer has been applied for a flawless finish.

Great review, thank you! This sounded so good, but I might just stick with repainting.
