OPI Matte Top Coat

I’m a very big nail polish person so thought that a matte top coat would be a game changer with my existing nail polishes. I bought this one which true to form does work very well at making polishes matte and looks super cool however ever time I use it it chips after about twelve hours which is incredibly irritating as it has no staying power my manicures when I use this last for around two days

I was pretty excited when this came out because there was something new for me to play around with. I bought it from Farmers sometime last year on a deal. It’s contained in a 15ml mattified glass bottle with a brush. It doesn’t look clear like the normal top coat as it looks more like a thick glue-like consistency.

After the nail polish dried on my nails, I applied a thin layer of the Matte Top Coat and it dried quite quickly. I could see the difference immediately. The nail polish went from a shiny look to a completely mattified look. It has the same affect on glitter nail polish, which I love the look of. The nail polish remained matte and lasted on my nails for few days before starting to chip.

I haven’t come across any other Matte Top Coats, so I recommend this one. It may be a little pricey, but the best time is probably to purchase it during sales to save a little bit of money.

I find this a very nice matte top coat, for normal polish and over gel polish. Gives a nice flawless matte finish! Easy to apply! Simple as that. It's great because you can turn a glossy polish into a matte finish, on all nails or just a feature one.

If you're anything like me you have a huge collection of nail polish and you stopped using all but 3 of them shortly after the honeymoon period - that beautiful couple of months after you buy a nail polish and can't imagine wearing anything else ever again, until that time when you never want to see it again. Ringing any bells?

If so, go out and get this bad boy immediately. This was just a perfect way to add a bit of life and interest back into the old colours in my collection that I'd otherwise fallen out of love with.

It applies beautifully and dries incredibly quickly. The matte finish is a true matte, and the colour underneath still comes through perfectly - in some cases I found the matte version almost looked more intense.

The only downside is that the matte does wear off a little over a couple of days. I tend to give it a light top up coat each night while I'm wearing it. Fortunately it dries so fast this isn't generally too arduous.

I was really keen to try this out, I love the look of matte nails and I thought this product is such a good idea to turn any nail polish matte. I like the packaging of the top coat and I like that you can clearly see the difference between this top coat and others. When I first used it, I was very surprised about how quickly it turns your nail polish matte, it is almost instantly. It worked with any brand of nail polish I had. I noticed however that it wasn't the best at protecting the nail polish and would find it would chip after a day or two of wear. I saw somewhere that it is a good idea to put a normal top coat under this one to help with chipping which I tried but it didn't help much. I also noticed that after a week or so, the nails were no longer matte, like the top coat had worn off. I think it is a good product that makes your nails go matte but you might have to change your nail polish every couple of days to stop it from chipping.

I was sure some nail colours in my collection would work perfectly with a matte top coat so I invested in this bad boy after months of drooling over images of matte nails.

The brush is the same handy size as all other OPI polishes. It glides on super easy and dries down fully within a minute which is awesome! If used on its own it doesn't tend to last quite as long (re chips etc) as a standard top coat, so I will often use it applied over my normal top coat - this also gives a slightly more cleaner looking finish.

You want to make sure you cover every inch of your nail when applying this top coat as any part of the nail that is missed will stand out. The nail colours I love to use most with this top coat are a light blue based grey and a deep dark red. It's a great addition to any nail polish collection!

I wanted to try this top coat as I love the look of matte nails but don't love the expense of having all the extra colours. I am pleased to say that this works perfectly and has effectively doubled my nail polish collection. It goes on smoothly and drys fast and while its not as effective at providing an anti chip factor as some other top coats it definitely drys to a matte finish. I found that if I wanted my polish to last a bit longer i use a anti chip top coat under this one and it seems to work perfectly which is fabulous.

I bought this to add to my collection of OPI polishes. I have a thing about having the matching top coats, base coats etc and when they bought this out there were very few matte top coats on the market.

As with all OPI polish, the bristles are rounded but splay easily to cover the nail in 2 or 3 strokes. The handle is easy to hold and the classic bottle design looks great.

I like using this best over colours that are not shimmery or glittery for maximum impact, especially shades like You Don't Know Jacques, one of my favourite everyday shades. I also like using it on an accent nail only to add a bit of interest.

It dries well and lasts well and I haven't found another matte top coat that works better. Another classic by OPI.
