About Me I'm so happy to have been a member all these years! This is truly my happy place. And I'm loving the luxury of BR trials and beauty boxes.

Thanks Pat. I am better thanks, but fatigued and still coughing a lot. Back to work tonight sadly :( The fresh fruit hasn't happened yet, but hopefully tomorrow morning after work. I'm hanging out to find a cherry seller. Usually they're in a couple of spots in town but I haven't seen anyone this year. I see the orchardists are saying they have people queued up to work for them so hopefully that means there'll be tons of fruit at a good price during January.
I thought I'd make a Countdown order for delivery, but they had hardly any fruit and what they did have was eye-wateringly expensive so I'll just make do with what I have for now. It'll probably be late next week or even the week after before they start to get full deliveries again. Luckily I have apricots and strawberries from my own property!
I'm having a very annoying day that has so far resulted in a query to one company and negative feedback to two supermarkets, something I avoid doing as it really destroys my zen when I feel compelled to complain about anything. But then - taadaaaa- my lovely Beauty Vault products arrived! Woohoo, thanks BR, that really uplifted my day, my zen is restored :) (pic on photowall)
Some greenies rarely shower or wash their hair, citing it as being bad for skin and removing helpful bacteria. They also live on plant based diets. According to them you don't smell eventually and your hair comes through it and ends up shiny and healthy. I believe it, but I'm not game to try it myself.
For me it's about revisiting a brand when I haven't loved previous products because sometimes they come out with new and better products. And the Sukin products I recently bought are far more suitable for my skin than any previous ones I've tried. I'm loving their rosehip oil - thick and dark and without the rosehip scent.
Do you ever go back and try a brand you have previously discounted? Normally I don't, but Healthpost recently had a 3 for 2 on Sukin products, so I bought 3 serums. Usually I find their products a bit mild for my mature skin, so tend to swerve them. I've been using the first of the 3 products for a while now and it's very very good. I would never have revisited the brand if it weren't for the special that drew my attention to the serums.
Mum used to say that dolomite tablets fixed it for her. For me I think it's caused by my thyroid and my mum had thyroid issues as well. Dolomite is a rich source of calcium and magnesium so maybe it's a defiency of those, among other things, that can cause it. Like most things, there probably isn't a singular cause, and for me, thyroid has robbed my body of all things. Avocados have lots of magnesium and good fats, I think that's why they work for me.
I've had a busy week binging and have watched From (TVNZ ondemand - 2 seasons available and season 3 coming..) - excellent even though I don't usually watch horror shows, Passport to Freedom (TVNZ ondemand, series) - also excellent, and based on a true story, and I just watched Operation Finale (Netflix, movie) - excellent as well and based on a true story. I highly recommend all three.
I hope its ok to share this link. It outlines the 5 ingredients linked to child labour. And makes me feel guilty about my daily chocolate and coffee. I need a big re -think .. but I'm also worried about what happens to these children if their work disappears, that they might have no food or money. Food for thought ..

I was excited to get to trial this product as I have not used a Collagen Creme before. The packaging is not something that appeals to me as a beauty product and I would never have picked this up at a store, but I am glad I've had the opportunity to trial it as it is a wonderful product. The consistency of the creme is quite thick but it feels so lovely and is really easy to apply and absorbs fairly quickly. The fragrance is a bit strange but not unpleasing and disappears once applied. I don't apply my makeup straight away, I give it a few minutes to let it absorb into my skin first. My makeup then applies well over the top. I've used my fingers for application as you don't need a lot of the product which makes this product incredibly good value for a product that is organic and also has collagen. I have sensitive skin and have had no issues with blemishes or any reactions at all to the product. My legs which suffer from dryness over the winter are looking great since I started using this product. I would recommend Alpine Silk to anyone looking to rehydrate their skin ready for Summer as it's great value for money and I'm really impressed with the results.
I'm really not liking this stuff. It leaves a slight white caste, which is okay I can deal with that being a really pale person anyway, but the heavy feeling of this on my skin is something else. My skin always looks super shiny and oily when wearing this. It doesn't dry down or absorb into my skin like I would expect, and I feel like I want to wash it off within a couple of hours (if not straight away because of the feel of it).
A few times I've attempted to wear foundation over it, I waited a good half-hour to 45 minutes before trying to apply make-up, but everything either pilled or would not stay put at all. Each time i tried troubleshooting it, leaving out steps of my skincare or certain products, but no matter what nothing helped it look decent.
This is my "at-home-not-going-anywhere-or-seeing-anyone" SPF for now. I'll finish the tube because I paid for it, so I'm not wasting it, but the weight an feel of it just isn't good for me at all.
Lovely Cream to put on just before bed. So soft and indulgent. Honestly makes me feels very special and relaxed using this product.
Also comes in a cute jar and smells very nice. Talking about it makes me want to get more!
Thanks BR babes for another awesome trial opportunity - this was one I was absolutely stoked to be able to join!!
I've always been a Dr Lewinn's fan and used to be obsessed with their skincare line. I've recently moved to Environ so I was really excited to see how these shots went and whether I'd rediscover that love for Dr L.
These shots come in packs of 10 - small glass bottles with a screw cap lid. The flavour is cloudy apple, and it's true to taste - it really does look like concentrated apple juice, and is the most delicious mid-morning drink. I tried them with normal water, on their own and in a smoothie, but by far my favourite way was added to sparkling water. There were a couple of days I forgot to take it and had it late evening, so I found having it with morning tea gave me the routine to remember to have it daily, and it quickly became something I really looked forward to.
So the main thing - results. I haven't noticed any improvement in my hair or nails, but I have always had incredibly thin nails and bleached hair so I'm not surprised. But the skin changes - oh wow!!! A week ago I had a facial appointment with my usual therapist and she commented on how amazing my skin was looking. I've noticed a subtle plumping of the skin, it just looks bouncier but the most noticeable change is that my nasolabial folds are both so much less pronounced, it really is astonishing! (I wish I had taken before and after pics)
While the price point is a little high, a bit of searching found them for around $50 at Chemist Warehouse so if I swap it out for my daily coffee, then I'm no worse off and will have better skin for it.
Dr Lewinn's - I am officially back
Tips: The 2 times I remembered in the evenings to take it, it went perfectly with sparkling water, ice and a cheeky shot of gin :)
First off, this moisturizer is like a drink of water for your skin. Seriously, it's got this lightweight, hydrating formula that sinks right in without feeling greasy. If you're someone who's got oily or combination skin, you'll probably appreciate this – it doesn't turn your face into an oil slick by midday.
I've been using it morning and night, and it's been doing a solid job of keeping my skin feeling soft and supple. It's not one of those heavy-duty, heavy-feel moisturizers that sit on your skin – it's more like a comfortable, second-skin kind of deal.
Now, I can't say it's magically zapped away all my skin concerns, but it has been helping with some redness and minor dry patches. I think it's the kind of moisturizer that plays well with others – meaning, it's a great base for makeup if you're into that sort of thing.
All in all, I'm vibing with the La Roche-Posay Effaclar H Iso-Biome Moisturiser. It's like a little daily treat for my face. If you're on the hunt for a lightweight moisturizer that doesn't mess around, give this one a shot. Your skin will thank you!
I’ve enjoyed Garnier products in the past, and I don’t currently use a Vitamin C product so was excited to try this.
I need 2-3 pumps for my entire face. The first thing I noticed was that it felt like a makeup primer. This isn’t at all a bad thing, and I liked the balance of a smooth dimethicone texture without pilling upon application. I next noticed the fresh citrus smell, which isn’t overwhelming but something to note if you are averse to fragrance in skincare.
My issue is I don’t know what this product is meant to be… it basically has an identity crisis. It’s not really a serum so I don’t feel it gives a concentration of active ingredients. It’s not a cream so it doesn’t give moisture. The SPF is so low that you definitely can’t use it as your main sun protection. Maybe it is nice as a non-sticky hand cream? Or a stand alone makeup primer?
I definitely won’t repurchase or recommend.
I have been using this over the colder winter months, at night on my face. It is a lovely light oil that has a gentle smell and absorbs quickly. A single pump disperses a generous amount that will be more than sufficient for your face and neck. I have found my skin is soft and supple since using this oil and I have not suffered from the dry/flaky skin issues I quite often suffer when exposed to the dry cold weather.
Tips: Great to apply after a hot shower on damp skin.
Simply beautiful. Thats how my skin felt after using this amazing serum.
It comes in a very low key clear plastic bottle with a gold lid. The serum is a pretty pale pink in colour and has a really pleasent scent. I am an avid serum user, every morning and night so I am always keen to try new serums. You will apply this to a cleansed and toned face, before a day cream or night cream, this is to be used along with your regular products and not instead of them.
At 125mls this is a larger bottle than most serums come in, I do believe this is great value for money, especially with the great results you will get by using this.
So to the results. I used this serum as per the directions. Morning and night. I popped a few drops onto my fingers and applied it to my face. It goes on smoothly and dries quite quickley so you can carry on with the rest of your routine. After a couple of weeks my skin felt softer and smoother, and I did notice the fine lines around my eyes appeared less. Great results and I am sure anybody would be happy with these results. As I continued using this serum my skin just got better and better. My lines around my lips were quite deep but now they appear less deep. This is one of the best serums I have used and I will re purchase this product again.
Tips: The L'Oreal age perfect range is designed for particular ages. look on the side of the packaging to see which products are made for your age.
I originally purchased this serum from the Chemist Warehouse at a good price, I see it's 40%off at Life Pharmacy now. If you want a serum that is gentle on skin with a lot of natural ingredients, try this. It's a lightweight gel-cream, easy to apply with a pump action top. Cruelty free, no sulphates, parabens, made in Australia. Pure Ribose, Acacia Gum, Macadamia, Rosehip, Acai ,Goji , Tangerine oils, Vitamin E, Lavender and Vanilla. My skin felt very hydrated and slightly tighter. I would rather it came in a screw top jar as it's a bit hard to get the last bits of cream out with a pump top, which is still very handy if you're rushing. Faint pleasant fragrance, not overpowering.
Tips: Use on it's own or under the Sukin Rejuvinating Day Cream.
St Tropez self tan purity vitamins serum for face. So… I was already tanned when I got home , to my products waiting , as I had been on an unexpected holiday for 10 days !!!( yes I was so excited and lucky !) but what was lovely was I started using the face serum a couple of days post holiday , & it’s kept me with a lovely subtle glow on my face and still looking like I’ve just come back from holiday! And it’s been over a week now . So we all Mostly love that feeling! One thing to mention , is I do have very sensitive skin , that’s seems to hassle me extra ways with menopause…yawn yawn ! BUT I didn’t have ANY reaction in any negative way , so that was awesome people with sensitive skins I would highly recommend this. Of course do a patch test first though- i also highly recommend this to people who would prefer to tan gradually , and build up the colour you love , than doing a full deeper colour overnight as a lot of tans do ,especially nice on your face. It has a really subtle smell and feel like I can smell a tiny bit of “holiday in the tropics “smell. And my hubby said the same when he kissed my face! I also Like that It dries really nicely on my skin, and was no problem I found , after fully drying my face , I could Layer another layer , or some evening moisturiser ( not too heavy a layer ) on later in the evening if you felt like it. I am always dry these days woth “mature skin “ again yawn yawn , but also from my travels too. I think it would be awesome to take on a holiday with you. I just didn’t get mine in time.
Tips: Layer on a few layers , it’s build’s really nicely.I used my fingers and the glove , felt my fingers gave me more control on my face ( mitt great on body ) Don’t pump too much out at a time but it has a nice wee pump and so I did on average 3 pumps and added ofcfelt like it absorbed easily. Wash hands straight after ! As per any tanning I guess. Lovely for my décolletage area too , sometimes in this area on me , heavy tan can look too much right near your face , I find , so this was perfect.
