I like to invest a little more in sunscreen for my face and so I turned to a trusted brand. In all seasons this is effective, but for me personally it is a little think and makes applying foundation over the top tricky as it does not blend easily.

Tips: Maybe mix with moisturiser to create a smoother texture.
My skin is mature, combination and sensitive as I use a retinol, so this is a really brilliant gentle mineral sunscreen. It doesn't sting my skin, and I can use it over my eyes without it making them feel 'gluggy' or irritated. It is broad spectrum, and is quite a light texture blending into skin nicely and provides an excellent evening out of skin tone with its slight tint. It sits a little dewy for a while, and doesn't really set back completely so if using alone or under makeup you might want to set it with powder. All round felt like good protection but for anti-aging I prefer the same product in SPF 40.
Tips: Definitely give it a good 20mins to half hour before applying makeup to let it set back.
I use this year round now, cannot be too careful with sun protection. I love that it's light with just a hint of cover. I do also use higher factor sunscreen in Summer, but this works for me in lower light seasons.
Tips: Apply in a cool area, my bathroom was too hot and sticky after showering, most products just slide off again.
This is a really nice product. It doesn't just protect but keeps oils at bay. I found that it didn't break me out and I didnt get an irritation. My face feels soft after application not greasy like other SPF products. It looked nice under makeup.
Tips: I put a little on my feet and hands
I have found that I need to wear sun block every day even in the middle of the winter with the sun being extremely harsh and damaging in this part of the world. Wearing normal sun block on the body is alright but on the face is too much, it can be greasy and messy, also can make you appear a lot more white/pasty.
I have been using this Clinique City Block for a very long time and have seen an improvement in my skin's complexion and tone, as well as the knowledge that my skin is protected. There is a faint tint to the cream which is lightweight and blends to nothing on the skin. It also does not leave the skin greasy and works great as a base for your makeup.
If I could afford to regularly spend $50 on a face sunscreen I would definitely buy this product more, but sadly I often go for cheaper options. It is tinted so it acts like a primer make-up base and doesn't feel at all like sunscreen, but gives you high spf protection. Can make your complexion look pale so best to wear with foundation, not on it's own. I lived in Australia for a large chunk of my 20s and wore this every day (had more disposable income then :-) and credit it with saving me from wrinkles now that I am in my late 30s.
Tips: Wear with make-up, not on its own.
(please note that this review is the super city block which contains SPF40)
As I have really pale skin and the intensity of the sun over the land of the long white cloud leads to higher rates of sun exposure, we need to be protecting our skins as much as possible. There are plenty of products on the market with built in SPF between 15 and 25, including moisturiser, BB and CC creams. I wanted a independent facial sun protection that will work with any makeup I choose to wear, or moisturisers so that I am not limited by my choices as my favourite skincare doesn't contain any SPF.
Using after moisturising and before priming my face, this cream resembles the texture and colour of any BB cream on the market but it absorbs like a primer and quickly too so you don't have to wait around for it to dry before you can move onto the next step. Tinted in a yellow beige tone it blends into the skin to leave no trace of colour.
There is no odor at all, which is great as some body SPF products can have a nasty chemical plastic smell which is off putting. I've found that I can put this all over my face without irritating my eyes so I am happy and safe in the knowledge that I have protected my entire skin on my facial area from the hairline to chest for the entire day.
I burn easy and even when I don't spend that long in the sunshine I burn ever so slightly but ever since I started using this product it has made a huge difference with the signs of aging slowing down, the darker areas of my face look brighter and because this product doesn't clog up the pores it keeps it looking healthy.
The smell is a strange, very chemically smell, I didn't expect it to smell floral or anything but it smells a bit like plastic...
it's a tinted sunscreen, the consistency is thick, creamy, and you really have to push at it to get it to apply evenly. It does give a slightly grey tone to the skin when applied alone. But I prefer to dust with powder anyway as it's very sticky on the face otherwise.
There is a whole plethora of BB/CC creams out there which give higher SPF and perform better so I would definitely give this a pass.
This sheer sun protective cream is exactly that - sheer. It's easy to apply but does leave a thin white film similar to zinc on your face. It protects well and has a little hint of colour to it. Not too thick or thin so you can tell it has been applied. I love the fact that I don't need to apply sunscreen then on top of moisturiser and a bb cream or foundation as well. I have never burnt using this product and the size of the tube means that it is easy to toss into your handbag for a quick reapply. It only comes in one shade so could be too light for darker skins but I think perfect for when the colour of summer has faded and winter is around. It gives you a little bit of colour while still protecting. No more days when you forget to be sun safe.
Tips: Blending it helps not to leave any white streaks and remember to reapply.
I’ve tried a number of SPF in the past for my face and this one is the only one that I go to time and again. It feels great on and unlike others I’ve tried, this one doesn’t cause eye irritation at the end of the day when your face gets oily.
