I wanted to love it...

I purchased this product as I have super dry lips in the winter and I saw some amazing reviews on this. The product itself is medium, not overly greasy, and applies nicely to skin. It made my hands very soft and cuticles loved it! My lips however reacted to it and they cracked, peeled and bled. I do wonder if it is the Tea Tree in it, as this can be quite a strong plant oil. Other than the lip issue it was pretty good. I would probably not repurchase it though as there are other creams etc that I love to use on my hands that don't leave a greasy residue.

Tips: Be careful when using this on your lips in case you have a reaction.

Destroyed my lips

The main reasons I purchased this skin balm are 1) it's a kiwi brand and 2) I wanted a multi-purpose balm to take travelling through a hot European summer.

I still love Antipodes and look forward to trying more of their products in the future, but sadly this was a let down. When applied on my lips they ended up cracked, bleeding and sore. I persisted with the balm for about 10 days, thinking my lips just needed to get used to the formula, but in the end it was just too painful and I returned to using standard vaseline.

Used on my nails, hands, and cuticles I found it didn't sink in to the skin at all. Of course, a balm will never be absorbed the same way a standard moisturiser is. But it even left a weird slightly gritty feeling on my nails and cuticles.

The one thing I was happy with was using this as a face moisturiser at night. During my Europe trip I lost my standard night cream, so resorted to using this in the evening for a few days. Admittedly my face looked radiant and felt soft the next morning, and it didn't seem to block my pores despite feeling heavy.

I'm really gutted that this didn't work for me, especially since I know a lot of BR gals swear by it.

Tips: I absolutely adore the Trilogy Everything Balm - a great alternative which is still an NZ brand and a natural product!

NO PEELING!!!!

Well, where should i start? the pot that saviour Balm is in is very 'tiger balmy' container - ish. I mean it reminds me of old school tins that my nanna used to have. this is not a bad thing, as i actually really like it, what i dont like is that sometimes its quite hard to pop the lid off as its not a screw top, its a 'pull' top. The scent of it is quite diffferent as its not just one smell, I can smell Tea tree, not over bearing, and something else that i cant really pick. The texture of the balm is creamy, yet thin. As its a balm, it leaves a oily residue, but it is a hydrating balm, so i expected that. The actual look of the balm itself reminds me of good ole tiger balm, kind of like a Honey looking colour and tone. Ok so on to the good stuff, this balm is AMAZING for sunburn!!! (amoung other things). I have had this for nearly a year and only ever used it for insect bites and dodgy cuticles, sore dry ugly feet and dry lips (before i was introduced to hurraw). Now back to the sunburn!! so long story short, i was badly sunburnt on my back where i got burnt over day old sunburn and i did not have anything that would help the sting or the itch that you get when burns are healing. This stuff was INCREDABLE!!! and usng it twice a day for a week helped with the burn NOT PEELING!!! and it felt sooooo good on my back!!! would i reccommend this to others? YES, however if you dont like oily residues, then maybe you may not like it as much as me!!!

Tips: use it everywhere!!! seriously, bites, burns, feet, cuticles....it really helps alot!!!

Tin-tastic

I was given this as a gift from my sister, one on my ever expanding Beauty Wish List, and it has been amazing. I have lusted over it in stores and picked up the tin but never purchased. This tin is full of healing power and is now my night cream! I suffer from bad contact dermatitis, random things can set it off without warning (if I touch a table that a hard cleanser like jiff has been used on but not entirely rinsed off for example) but this blame sees everything settle down almost immediately. It is an amazing lip balm too.

Tips: Buy on sale or in mini's if you can grab them! $50 if a lot but it is a huge tin and if you use if for everything it is well worth it. I have tried many other balms but none feel as nice or work as quickly or as naturally as this one.

Antipodes Saviour Skin Balm

Wow amazing versatile product, cleared up my facial dermatitis in a a couple of days and is now a daily staple on dry chapped hands and lips. And the beauty is it's all natural, smells natural too with no added fragrance.

Tips: Warm a small amount between your fingertips to soften before application. Leave the lid up a little as it can be difficult to get open when you push the lid on too tight.

Great for a lot of things!

I originally switched to this after using up all of my Trilogy Everything Balm, which I didn't mind but didn't find amazing. I definitely prefer Saviour Balm, it is such a handy tool to have and I can't believe how often I use it. I'll admit to being pretty clumsy so having something that I can put on my burns, cuts as well as my dry skin is fantastic. I even used it this evening on the blisters on my feet (stupid new shoes) and already they are looking less irritated. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to anyone.

Soothing Saviour

This reminds me so much of the old Rawleighs balm we used as kids. My Mum always had a tin on hand! However this may be the flasher, modern, more upmarket sister, combining natural "antibacterial, antifungal and antimicrobial healing properties". It's magic ingredients include teatree, New Zealand Totara and echinacea.

I have used this on and off for the past couple of years for minor scrapes, grazes, insect bites and dry skin. It has been extremely effective in healing and I feel safe and comforted knowing the ingredients are natural and beneficial to mine and my families skin. With it's antibacterial properties, I am assured that there is minimal risk of infection providing an optimum environment for fast healing to occur. The results have been great and I would definitely recommend this to others.

I'm sad to say that although I do like this product a lot, at $46 a tin I am hesitant to buy unless on special. There are many other less expensive healing balms on the market that are just as effective.

This is my "Windex"

Fantastic for healing up minor cuts and bug bites. Sometimes I use it on pimples too. Calms irritation and very minor infections down. A good seal over dry skin.

Saviour Balm

I won some of this last year and I don't think I would pay to get it again. The product says you can use it on grazes etc, but it is quite sticky and just sits on the skin. Better suited for dry lips or if you are going to apply it and cover the area, other wise it just rubs off onto your clothes. Just not something that I would use enough when other cheaper products could do the job.
